Fashion Design

Third place:  By Noweia
Thanks to all those who entered! The winners will receive awards soon! Congrats!

Rules/Info:
Those of you that own horses might have a better time with this, but only because you have quick references for what your horses wear. But then, those that don't own horses can pick up a tack magazine. Anyhow, this contest was chosen by our last ACA winner, and this is how it goes: You gotta draw horses wearing stuff. You can draw them in blankets, in show tack, in dressage/showjumping/western sports/whatever tack. Even circus tack! You're welcome to have fun with it and even draw them on a modelling runway or something cute like that. You can draw them in whatever you wanna draw them in, as long as it's interesting. By that I mean, not just a pleasure saddle and bridle, K? This contest will be judged on skill. Not for drawing the horse but for drawing the tack and whatever they're wearing. It will also be judged on uniqueness of the idea. Some other rules include: no more than two horses per picture. Humans are allowed in the pic, as long as we can see the tack well. The horse shouldn't be DOING whatever it usually does in the tack. Horse Sport contests may come later. ^^ Just draw it modelling the tack like you might see in a magazine, or, like I said, do some cute runway modelling. Let's see, what else? Well, little details will be judged, and you are welcome to add interesting touches. For instance: stencils and glitter on showhorses. You can draw random horses or your own characters wearing the stuff. Have fun, and get to designing and drawing!

I think Kris' second entry and JediKnight14's first entry deserve honorable mention, though I have to admit I loved all the entries. Thanks to all who entered! I'll get the awards to everyone who won soon.

Rules/Info:
Okay, I forget totally who thought of this idea. If it's you, tell me! Anywho, the rules are: try to make a portrait-like picture of a character from any horse movie. Even horses from LotR. But do keep it G rated. I am picky. What I mean by portrait is that I don't want the char interacting with another char. Song lyrics are okay, but they have to be from the movie the horse is in. Just make it like you went up and asked them if you could draw/paint/whatever them. More than one char is fine. Colored or not is fine. But I want to see fan-art. You can make them doing something, like posing silly, or doing something like they might in the movie, but it has to look like a portrait, not a screenshot. No interaction. For example, if it's Shadowfax, drawn him with Gandalf on him, or next to him, but no interaction. If it's Spirit, draw him rearing, Rain by his side.. If it's Seabiscuit, draw him crossing the finish line, Red on board, camera bulbs popping, etc. G rated! Will either be judged by me and others or voted on by you guys. I'm deciding. Send me the pic and specify that it's for the contest. Let's see some fanart!!!

Contest 2 (10/12/04- 1/1/05): Mythical equine challenge.
This contest will test your ability to draw mythical equines, and will, again, be judged by me with a second opinion from a friend or two.
Rules: you may enter as many images as you like before the deadline. They may either be colored or just a sketch, but must be a mythical horse. That includes existing mythical horses like winged horses and unicorns, as well as actual characers of yours. The point is creativity. If the character is plain, you can draw him or her in a dynamic, unique pose or situation, or the coloring and background can be interesting. Or, you can create a new species of fantastical creature, as long as it resembles an equine. Either way, please try to keep it as close to a G rating as possible.
There are again two categories. They are: 1. Already existing mythical horses, which are pictures of species that exist. If it is a character of yours, say so. If not, it will be judged on how close they come to "realistic" I mean, actual characteristics of unicorns. I understand that original unicorns are NOT equine, but we're not gonna worry about that. ^^ If they are a character, and you did not make them like a classic unicorn or whatever, then they will not be judged on that.
Category 2: new species. These will not be judged based on anything that already exists in mythology. They will be judged on creativity. There will be winners in each category, and the number of winners will depend on the number of entries.
So let your imagination run wild! And now that the long, detailed rules are done, go draw! (Thanks to Kris for the idea)

First contest (7/26/04-10/1/04): Anatomy/pose challenge. There are 2 parts to this challenge. You can draw a horse in one of two poses: running or rearing. This challenge tests your ability to draw horses in action.
Rules: you can enter up to two entries. There are 1st thru 6th place. I will be the head judge, but I will get second opinions from a friend. ^^ If you win, you get a ribbon to post on your page or with the pic, and you get announced as a winner. The pic must be a whole body pic, but no background is necessary.
To send an entry, you just send the picture (which can be colored or just sketched) like you send all other pics, but you specify that it's a contest pic in your comment. Winner:
