Site History

To Neigh is to Be started out as an informational and interactive horse website. I had fun with it, but It just wasn't as fun as art. Besides, I felt like I knew more about drawing horses that just about them in general, because most of the webmistresses of my type of site at least took riding lessons. But anyway, in October of 2003 it first opened and was a success for quite awhile. But after a bit, there was hardly any interaction, and instead of feeling sorry for myself, I decided to move on. So the idea of an equine art gallery was born. At first, I was just gonna try to concertrate on my own art, but I decided to open it up to the general public to post art at, because I hadn't seen any other art archives for horses only.

I'm hoping that TNITB will grow into a fun place to post horse art, for those true horse lovers like myself. If you have any suggestions, email me!

Past layouts: Layout 4: "Green rectangles"

This was the first layout of To Neigh is to Be-Equine Art Gallery. Eventually, I came to dispise it with all my being, because it's not really that well done. It's just green rectangles with the main TNITB logo and some pics from Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. The Navigation was an image map along the bottom of the main image. Again, this layout was made with basic DIV layers, since I know how to use them, they're SO handy! There's some Javascript and CSS, but most of it is handcoded HTML.

Layout 3: "What R U lookin' at?"

This layout was by far my favorite. Its color theme is light blue, grey, and white. Like the last one, it was made using simple DIVs, though it has an image map, which is a new thing for me. The images were taken from a site called Pet Professor, because they were too cute! The navigation (the image map) is in French, with a mouseover translation, and the running design is giant, overlapping circles.

Layout 2: Oh the foofyness! (poor Skye)

This layout is a vast improvement compared to the last one when it comes to navigation. It is made using simple DIV layers, and has a picture of Skye, a character from my story, as the main image. Hence the name. The picture is kind of fluffy and girly, and Skye is not at all like that. Hence the (poor Skye) bit. I drew the picture, and colored it PSP 5, just like all my art images. The colors are: blue, light purple, white, and pink. Navigation is on the side. There is a blur mouseover effect on the links.

Layout 1: Everyone starts somewhere.

As I said on the main page, Hennir est être (To Neigh is to Be) is my personal site/horse site/art archive. The layout was made using notepad, and the Javascripts are from Hypergurl, an html help site. The layout contains IFrames and tables, and the colors are black, a purple/pink color, a blue/green color, and lavender. It's not the best ever, nor could it hold a candle to some of the more expierienced horse sites out there. But everybody starts somewhere. I intend to update weekly, though there may be times when I can't. When I do, the most updated section will likely be the art archive. The Main image on the top will change sometimes, because I have made a few images for that purpose. I'll probably make more eventually. And then, when I get better, I'll make a whole new layout. Probably one that's easier to navigate. It'll probably have an image map and DIV layers, etc. But for now we'll all just have to put up with this one until I improve my web design skills. Anyway, enjoy! If you have any comments, either email me or sign my guestbook. ;)

Did you know that web design as simple as mine can sell for up to $300 per website? Maybe you should consider a career in webdesign. ^^
